In my October 2016 Blog I mentioned Aristotle’s quote, “Quality is not an act, it is a habit.” inferring that Impact Binders and Impact Menus success can be attributed to “our passion for and focus on design, product innovation, and quality, all of which developed into habits during our many years in business.
Design and product innovation are fairly self-explanatory as each is quite visible on a product. Quality, on the other hand, is not necessarily so visible, and should be identified and defined to customers and future customers.
Durable materials: Materials that show minimal wear over the long-term.
Reinforced spines: Spines constructed for maximum strength having a tear-resistant Tyvek material inserted in the spine between the cover material and lining material. Genuine leather menu covers can be reinforced with an added piece of leather sewn into the spine which strengthens the spine minimizing possible ‘sag’ of the cover. Solid wood binder covers and menus now are available with solid wood spines, which are strong and eco-friendly.
Sewn-through edges: Sewn edges with stitching that goes through the cover and into the interior panels. This strengthens the bond between the cover and interior panels. Too often stitching is just through the cover material and is more decorative than functional.
Radius corners: A design feature that can contribute to longer-term durability. A radius corner acts almost like a shock absorber; when a binder cover is dropped the radius corner will damage much less than a square corner.
Multi-ply construction when appropriate: 2-ply or 3-ply construction is used to make a requested lighter cover material more rigid so that form is not adversely affected.
Mitered corners when appropriate: Mitered corners are less bulky than the standard folded corners and will allow for a thinner cover in the closed position when required.
Obviously, as in most industries, costs can be affected by quality construction, however, the long-term life of a product needs to be factored into the equation for cost determination.
Quality menu covers and binder covers are in demand because of the long-term benefits realized. Impact Menus and Impact Binders specialize in high quality, innovative presentation products because it is an extension of customer service that our customers deserve.
